Spanish Music- Any Influence?

Some of the birds that migrate from Ireland to Africa each year include the swallow, wagtail and warbler. Migrating swallows cover 200 miles a day, mainly during daylight, at speeds of 17-22 miles per hour. The maximum flight speed is 35 mph. This means that the time they spend in countries such as France and Spain is very short and mostly just at night time. Some swallows even prefer to travel along the coast of Spain and avoid the mainland completely.

Spanish music is very unique and although it may contain some resemblance to Irish music, we feel that it has its own genre and upon hearing it, people immediately recognize it as Spanish music. Since these birds don’t spend a lot of time in Spain or France, we believe that they didn’t get the chance to influence the Spanish music like they did to the African music.

Some people might say that it was the people who travelled from Africa to Ireland that influenced the Irish music. If that was the case, we believe that the Spanish music would have been influenced a lot more by the African music

as the travelling African people would have had to pass through Spain to get to Ireland. Since it is the Irish music that is influenced and not the Spanish, we believe that it was indeed the migrating birds that influenced the Irish and African music and in turn caused both to sound similar.
